[Class 69 (ii).] A hydraulic press for use in drawing, shaping, or cutting metal sheets comprises an upper fixed tool t, surrounded by a movable pressure plate l carried by hydraulic rams k, and a lower tool t<1> operated by one or more rams. One or more air chambers communicate with the upper cylinders or their supply system, and the lowest position of the plate l is determined by headed rods n. The upper cylinders and the lower cylinder d are preferably cast integral with the frame, and the platen h has tapered projections q sliding between tapered strips p adjustably mounted on the frame.
