[Class 36.] An insulator comprises connected parts each having co-operating tapered or wedging bearing surfaces to transmit the mechanical load, antifriction bearing members being fitted between the surfaces. In the embodiment a pin 69 is provided with bearing faces 60, a cap 70 is formed with cement grooves 61 and a dielectric 67 is provided with bearing faces 62. The bearing faces in each series may differ in angularity from each other. Rollers 63 bear on the faces 60 and are covered on the outer side by metal sheets 64 held by cement 65. Rollers 66 bear on the faces 62 and are preferably covered by metal layers 68. In operation a load is applied at the end of the pin 69 and to the cap 70, the bearing faces allowing relative movement of the parts. The rollers 66 may be replaced by balls or by rings, continuous, in pieces or wound in a spiral, extending round the dielectric and circular in cross section.
