Abstract

Articles composed wholly or partially of microporous rubber are united with one another or with articles made of other materials by heating the microporous rubber, preferably high in sulphur, until it melts superficially and the melted surface is then used as the cement. The invention is particularly applicable to the repair and assembly of rubber filter plates. Examples of the process are given.ALSO:Articles composed wholly or partially of microporous rubber are united with one another or with articles made of other materials such as glass, rubber, cork, wood, concrete or metals, as, for example, covering metal doors, by heating the microporous rubber, preferably high in sulphur, until it melts superficially and the melted surface is then used as the cement. Microporous rubber may be thus employed as an adhesive e.g. for cementing floor coverings to flooring. The melted surfaces may be pressed together immediately after fusion or allowed to cool and then later pressed together after reheating. The invention is particularly applicable to the repair and assembly of rubber filter plates. Examples of the process are given.
