Abstract

<PICT:0359415/IV/1> In automatic web-feed reversing-mechanism for machines of the "jigger" type, for dyeing or otherwise treating webs of fabric, the reversing-bar on each winding-drum W, instead of being located in a longitudinal groove throughout the drum and linked to both ends of the drum, is reduced to a short bar 4 linked to one end only of the drum and depressed into a recess 1b at the end of the drum by the edge of the web, not shown, which is attached to a narrower auxiliary web V held on the drum by adhesion, or by a flexible band or the like 8 attached to the auxiliary web V. The bar 4 is carried by a lever 3 pivoted on a disc 1 fixed on one end of the shaft Z of the drum. The band 8 is attached in a recess 1c in the disc 1. The recess 1b is provided in the disc 1. When the bar 4 is released by unwinding of the band 8, the lever 3 swings so that a pawl 3b on its inner end abuts against a cam 6a and causes a turning-movement of a sleeve 6 operatively connected with the reversing-gear. The lever 3 can be locked in depressed position, for instance when winding on the fabric for the first time, by means of a projection 5a on a manually-adjustable ring 5, mounted on the nave of the disc 1 and held in one or other of two positions by a spring-ball detent.
