Abstract
358,904. Mine props. GERDETZ, L. F., Lonaconing, Maryland, U.S.A. July 10, 1930, No. 20894. [Class 20 (ii).] A resilient telescopic mine-prop of the type in which a wedge-shaped upper member is adapted to coact with means on the lower member whereby it is supported in adjusted position, has the supporting means mounted at the ends of free arms 6 and comprising a compressible wedge 18 supported by a rocking body 17 and a lever arm 15, both adapted to bear upon opposite sides of the upper sliding member. The upper member may be formed of channelsection bars 7 with wood or metal fillers 10 and liner plates 11, and is guided on the lower I-section member by a cross-bolt 3 engaging a slot 2 in the web of the lower member. The bars comprising the upper member may be reversed so that the edges of the flanges contact with the web of the lower member.
