358,793. Heating feedwater. AKT.- GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE. Baden, Switzerland. Dec. 5, 1930, No. 36707. Convention date, Dec. 16, 1929. [Class 64 (i).] A feedwater heater, for use with steam generators in which the heating gases flow with a high velocity, consists of gas passages of gradually increasing cross - sectional area in which the heating gases give up their heat to the feedwater as their velocity of flow decreases. In the heater shown in Fig. 1, the gases flow from an inlet 1 through flat tubes 2 to an outlet 7 the feed water flowing from an inlet 5 to an outlet 6. In a modification, the gases from a single boiler tube 13, Fig. 3, pass through a pipe 10 consisting of cylindrical sections of increasing cross section as they approach the gas outlet 14. Feedwater flows from an inlet 15 to an outlet 16.
