Abstract
379,939. Heating feedwater. SOC. ALSACIENNE DE CONSTRUCTIONS MECANIQUES, Mulhouse, Haut-Rhin, France. Dec. 12, 1931, No. 34532. Convention date, Dec. 13, 1930. [Class 64 (i).] In a feed heater having a section 4 in the boiler outlet flue and a section 5 in the combustion chamber a gas separator and settling tank 28 being arranged between the sections, the tubes 7 conveying water and steam from the section 5 into the upper part of the boiler drum 1 having perforations 8 beneath the boiler water level to allow a return flow of water into the heater when the feed pump 26 fails. In addition, water may flow from the upper or lower boiler drum into the heater 5 through a pipe containing a non-return valve 12, which may be mounted on the spindle of the non-return valve 11 in the pipe 31 between the heater sections. The hot water from the heaters discharges into a settling chamber 6 from which it flows into a compartment 32, over the sides of which it flows into the boiler water space.
