Abstract
401,288. Heating feedwater. HANNEMANN, E., Nideggen, Eifel, Germany. April 28, 1932, No. 12245. Convention date, April 28, 1931. [Class 64 (i).] A high-pressure water-tube boiler operated at about the rate at which the whole contents of the drum would be evaporated in one hour is supplied with pure water through a feed valve 2, Fig. 1, controlled in accordance with the water level in the drum, and the water is heated by boiler steam in a direct contact heater 8 arranged in or directly above the boiler steam space. The water may be directed against a hood 12, Fig. 3, from which it flows downwards through filling bodies in a trough 11 having a perforated bottom, or it may flow downwards in a cascade over plates, or over the surfaces of a number of vertical cylindrical plates. In another modification, steam from the boiler upriser tubes is directed into an open receiver from which the water overflows into the boiler water. Specifications 19383 /96, 8004 /00, 10873 /00, 16474 /02, [all in Class 123, Steam generators], 14433/05. [Class 64, Heating], 4285/09, 23564/10 and 233,829, [all in Class 64 (i), Heating liquids &c.], are referred to.
