Abstract

357,780. Road - traffic signals on vehicles. BARTENS, K. E. M., 45, Lojtegaardsvej, Kastrup, Copenhagen. Sept. 24, 1930, No. 28587. [Class 118 (ii).] Manoeuvre-signalling apparatus comprises a group of signals at each corner of a vehicle and both hand and automatic control means for operating simultaneously the signals on opposite sides of the vehicle in opposite senses. The signals are adapted to be visible in all directions and may be coloured lamps, which may be used in conjunction with movable pointers. The circuits of red, green, and yellow lamps 5, 6, 7 arranged at each corner of a vehicle are controlled by a hand-operated switch 9, by a switch 10 operated automatically by the steering-mechanism, and by a switch 8 operated by the brakes or the reverse-gear lever, the connections being such that when red signals, for example, are shown on one side of the vehicle, green signals are shown on the other side. Additional blue " ahead " signals may be operated by hand. Automatic flashing contacts may be included in the lamp circuits. The lamps 5, 6, 7 may be included in a single casing 25 with glazed apertures at the front and one side, or at both sides and both front and rear. The casing may be partitioned. The end 28 may be turned away from the vehicle.
