Abstract
843,893. Road traffic signals on vehicles. HIMMELBAUER, V. Aug. 22, 1958 [Aug. 29, 1957; April 18, 1958], No. 27108/58. Class 118 (2). A direction indicator is characterized in that an indicating means at the rear of the vehicle on one side at least can be energized independently of the front or lateral indicator. In the embodiments shown, the rear indicator has an additional lamp 14 connected to contact 12 on the direction indicator switch. When the movable contact 11 is switched to the contact 12, the rear indicator lamp 14 only is lit, and on further movement to the contact 9 the lamp 14 is extinguished, and the lamps 2 at the rear and 1 at the front are lit instead. Alternatively a single lamp may be used at the back, and the cable to the front lamp interrupted. Pilot lamps 7a, 8a and 12a are provided to indicate which indicators are in operation, the indicator 12a being, if desired, of a different colour from the other two.
