357,332. Refrigerating ; gas compressors. AKT.-GES., BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. Aug. 1, 1930, No. 23210. Convention date, Aug. 1, 1929. [Class 29.] Compression machines. -The compressor pistons 10, 11 of an enclosed rotary machine are separately driven at high speed from the main shaft 2 of the casing 1 by a single-toothed wheel 3 on the main shaft gearing with separate pinions 4, 5 on the compressor crank shafts. Ball or roller bearings are employed on the crank shafts and for the compressor casing, which is stationary. The condensed refrigerant and lubricant are collected from the periphery of the casing by a scoop 12, Fig. 3, and led to a settling chamber 13, whence the refrigerant (sulphurous acid) passes by a pipe 14 to a further settling chamber 15. It flows from chamber 15 through a pipe 16 to a float valve chamber 17 and thence by a passage 18 to the evaporator. The oil is distributed from the top of the first chamber 13.
