Abstract

In apparatus for drying milk by spraying it into a current of hot air, e.g. as described in Specification 198,496, [Class 32, Distilling &c.], the hot air is supplied to an outer chamber 5 from which it passes through perforated diaphragms 13, 23, 33, 43 into annular chambers 11, 21, 31, 41, surrounding the spraying nozzles 1 .. 4, and thence through a second series of diaphragms 12, 22, 32, 42 into the <PICT:0355960/III/1> drying chamber 6. The open area of the diaphragms may be predetermined, or varied by suitably arranged shutters to equalize the supply of air to each nozzle.
