Abstract

355,939. Force-feed lubricators, MacINDOE, J. F., 3603, Queens Lane, Philadelphia, U.S.A. Aug. 20, 1930, No. 24952. [Class 12 (iii).] A grease cup 13 for water pumps contains a piston 15 which is pressed towards the outlet 12c by a spring 11 and which has a depending stem 12 carrying a conical valve 13b adapted to close the outlet before the cup is entirely emptied and a plug 12d below the valve for regulating the feed. The plug 12d partially obstructs the outlet when the cup is full, and the outlet passage 13f may be tapered so as to increase the flow area as the plug descends. The piston is held in position on the stem by a slotted washer 16 engaging a groove 12b in the stem. The cap 10, against which the spring abuts, is secured to the cup by a bayonet connection 10a, 13a. The space above the piston is vented through grooves or hooded apertures in the cap.
