Abstract
355,037. Saddle covers ; leg-shields. NEW HUDSON, Ltd. and WOODMAN, A. C., St. George's Works, Icknield Street, Birmingham. Aug. 26, 1930, No. 25420. [Classes 136 (i) and 136 (iii).] A saddle cover comprises a blank of somewhat stiff material, such as artificial leather backed with felt, adapted to be attached to the forepart of the saddle, and capable of protecting the saddle when lying flat thereon and of being moved to an approximately vertical position to protect the riders' thighs &c., its inherent stiffness maintaining it in this position. The cover a, which is shown in its thigh-protecting position, is detachably or permanently secured to the peak of the saddle by strap, clip, &c. fastenings, or by sewing or riveting, and in its flat position is ttached to the rear edge of the saddle top, as by means of a flange a<2>, its side edges a<4> being turned beneath the saddle frame and secured by press-buttons a5 &c. In order to increase the protection afforded by the cover when upright, one or more foldable gussets a<3> are interposed between it and the saddle top. A blade &c. spring may be incorporated in the cover.
