Abstract

354,918. Closures for jars and cans. KARL, H., 133, Myrtle Avenue, Jersey City, New Jersey, U.S.A. June 12, 1930, No. 18068. [Class 125 (iii).] A closure for a jar, can, &c. comprises a cover 2 bent over at the edges to engage under an outward extension or beading 3 at the mouth of the container 1, forming an endless recess which is filled with a plastic, dissoluble or viscous sealing medium and compressed into.sealing engagement with the container. A cord, wire, &c. 4 may be embedded in the sealing medium. Melted wax, liquid rubber containing granulated cork, soft solder, rosin, gum cement, putty, sealing wax, &c. may be used as a sealing medium. The cover may have a glass portion 12 for viewing the contents. An opening tool having pivotal claws is shown and described for use with the container.
