Abstract
A metal mould has a portion of its contact surface carrying distinguishing marks moulded from a thermo-setting phenolic composition. The thermo-setting composition may be inlaid into a section of the contact surface. A suitable composition is stated to comprise about 40 per cent of a phenolic resinoid in a potentially reactive condition and from 5-60 per cent mica, the balance, if any, being any other filler such as wood flour, asbestos, aluminium or other metallic powders. The mould may be used for tyres, rubber heels, &c.
