Abstract

353,756. Cable joints. FELTEN & GUILLEAUME CARLSWERK AKT.-GES., M³lheim, Cologne, Germany. Sept. 15, 1930, No. 27471. Convention date, Sept. 19, 1929. [Class 38 (i).] The armouring of cables 2, 2a entering a junction sleeve 1 are secured at the more distant end of the sleeve 1 so that the tension of the cables is transmitted by the sleeve casing as a compression stress. A hollow cone 5 fits over the lead sheathing 3. The armouring wires 9 of the cable 2a are secured by a clamp 8 and bolts 7 to the cone 5. The armouring 6 of the cable 2 passes over the cone 5 and is secured to a similar cone at the opposite end of the casing 1. A ring 10 presses the wires 6 against the cone 5. Bending of the cables is limited by a funnel-shaped extension 11 or by an articulated hollow-cone.
