Abstract

353,478. Securing railway rails to sleepers. MILLS, Ltd., J. [Executors of], Bredbury, near Stockport, and MACBETH, A., Broadway, The Firs, Bowden, Altrincham Cheshire. Jan. 23, 1930, Nos. 2339, 15425, and 31342. [Class 104 (ii).] Rails 12 are secured to sleepers 13 by clips 15 which pass through holes 14 in the sleeper, the outer edges 14a of the holes being convex or slightly V-shaped, so that the straight back of the clip may rock or pivot thereon when the key 16 is being driven in. The edge 14a may have shoulders 17 to engage the back of the clip to incline the latter to the rail. In another form, the edge 14a is convex and the back of the clip is concave ; the front edge may also be convex, and the sides may diverge towards the rails. In other forms the sides converge towards the rail or are concave.
