Abstract

353,412. Adjustable seats. MORAN. E., 19, West 106th Street, New York, U.S.A, March 18, 1930, No. 8722. [Class 52 (ii).] An adjustable seat for vehicles comprises a framework, a substantially rectangular lower seat element horizontally slidably adjustable on said framework, an upper seat element carried on uprights disposed at each corner of the lower seat element, and members engageable in any of a plurality of holes or recesses in said uprights whereby the upper element is vertically adjustable relatively to the lower element. Such a device is shown in the drawings, the lower seat element 25 sliding on runners 2 and being held in horizontally adjusted position by projections 33, 35, operated by the mechanism shown in Fig. 2, engaging holes 34 in the car framework 1. Hinged elements 60, 61 depend from the front corners of the upper seat member 26, and holes 64, 65 therein are engaged by pins 62, 63 on the member 25. The rear end of the member 25 has upwardly extending elements 74, 75 provided with holes 76 to engage with pins 77, 78 on the member 26. One side of the seat may carry an arm-rest 85, pivoted at 86, 87 to uprights 82, 83, while the other side of the seat may carry a foldable structure 91, 94, 100, 103 adapted to carry either a non-adjustable arm-rest 97, or an arm-rest 90, vertically adjustable by means of projections 117, 121 and holes 95, 104. An adjustable foot-rest 8, 10 may be provided.
