Abstract

352,749. Subaqueous liquidfuel burners. TOPPER, H., 34, Friedrich - Krause - Ufer, Berlin. July 23, 1930, No. 22272. Convention date, July 30, 1929. [Class 75 (i).] Liquid fuel vaporized in tubular gas generators l<1> .. l<4> containing asbestoswrapped cores c<1> by electric heaters flows into a collecting chamber l which is connected by tubes m, n, u to mixing tubes f, g, h leading to annular nozzles b, c, d surrounding a cutting nozzle a on the burner head. Oxygen is supplied to the mixing tubes f, g, hand to the cutting nozzle a through tubes v, u, t, i passing through the collecting chamber l so as to derive heat from the vapour. The tubes m, n, o, v, u, t, i are fitted with control valves p, q, r, g<1>, h<1>, i<1>, s respectively to enable a smaller or larger heating flame to be used according to the thickness of the material to be cut. The gas generators and heaters are arranged in a casing a<1> fitted with a safety valve z to allow the escape of steam vaporized from water leaking around the joints between the tubes and casing. The main oxygen and fuel pipes are fitted with non-return valves.
