351,873. Straightening shafts. HURTH, C., HURTH, H., HURTH, F., HURTH, L., and SCHIEFELBEIN, D., (trading as HURTH, C.), 19, Holzstrasse, Munich, Germany. Oct. 27, 1930, No. 32245. Convention date, March 1. [Class 83 (iv).] In an apparatus for straightening shafts of the type having centres for carrying the shaft, abutment blocks, and gauges for indicating the degree of straightness, a number of blocks and gauges are fixed on the carriage carrying the centres so that. they retain their position relatively to the shaft on displacement of the carriage. The shaft 5 is mounted between centres 4 on a wheeled carriage 3 so that it may be adjusted under the straightening tool. The abutment blocks 7, which support the shaft during the straightening operation are formed on arms 8 resting at one end on the bedplate 9 and at the other end engaging between adjustable rings 10 fixed on a bar 11 secured to the carriage. The arms are each provided with a recess 12 and held in either its operative or inoperative positions bv the end 14 of a spring 13 secured to the arm. The feelers 17 and gauges 16 are adjustably mounted on guide rails 15 secured to the carriage. Any required number of blocks and gauges fixed at selected parts may be used according to the length of the shaft.
