Abstract

320,912. Leon, K. O. April 26, 1928. Centreless grinding ; rests. -The work-carrier of a centreless grinding machine, which supports the work between a grinding- wheel and a regulating- wheel is arranged to contact with the work at two or more spaced points or lines below the axis of the work. The carrier D supports the work B on each side of the plane containing the axis of the work and perpendicular to the plane containing the points of contact of the work with the grinding- wheel C and the regulating-wheel A, Fig. 1, and may be adjustable upwards and downwards and towards and from the wheels; it may comprise parts adjustably hinged together to accommodate work of various diameters. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, contact is made with the work at three points g, h, j, the position of the point g being adjustable by adjustment of the member k by means of a screw l ; the member k may be held yieldably in position by a spring. The carrier D may have a vertical reciprocating movement for grinding shouldered work, or an automatic work feeding device may be provided. Specification 308,091 is referred to.
