Abstract

350,465. Scaffolding. HABER, E., 17, Droysenstrasse, Charlottenburg, Berlin. Feb. 5, 1930, No. 3892. [Class 20 (ii).] A staging for use in building metal chimneys consists of a platform 9 surrounding the chimney and adapted to be suspended on the chimney by links 15 bolted to the longitudinal bars 4 of the chimney. These bars act as rails for guide-pulleys 14 on the platform, which carries a hollow crane post 20 provided with a jib 22, the distance between the end of the jib arm and the centre of the post being equal to the distance between the centre of the post and of the chimney so that the new sections of the chimney are raised and correctly positioned by the jib. The hoisting rope passes through the post to the pulley on the end of the jib and the post is supported in clamping bands on the chimney during the raising operation. The platform is raised by pulley tackle suspended from a clamping ring fixed to the upper portion of each newly-raised section of the chimney. The sections of the chimney are provided with connecting flange irons 2 at their tops and bottoms.
