Abstract
743,053. Posts. BRITISH HOIST & CRANE CO., Ltd., and EVANS, P. N. May 31, 1951 [May 31, 1950], No. 13592/50. Class 20(1). [Also in Group XXX] A column for a hoist comprises at least two separable sections, the sections having rails upon which a load carrying member can ride and a head gear for the hoisting cable of the hoist wherein the head gear engages and can. slide upon the rails. The column comprises front rails 10, 11 and rear supports 12, 13 braced by struts 14, as described in Specification 627,077 and a load platform rides on the rails. The ends of adjacent sections of the mast rails are joined by fish plates 17 to 20 and at the top is secured head gear 23 which comprises a head sheave pulley 30 secured at an angle to. two members 24, 25 which are bolted together the member 24 being bolted to fish plates 17, 18. Another mast section can be raised to the top of the mast on the load platforms and is secured to the fish plates 17, 18, the head gear can then be detached from the lower fish plates and raised on the mast rails 10, 11 to the top of the mast where it is again bolted in position to the fish plates. The head gear carries two laterally extending arms 34, 35 for supporting a safety lever 36 as described in Specification 743,054, [Group XXX]. The hoist may also include apparatus of the kind decribed in Specification 743,055, [Group XXX].
