350,216. Collapsable cases. RITCHIE & SON, Ltd., A. and CULLEN, J., 91, James Street, Bridgeton, Glasgow. May 28, 1930, No. 16418. [Class 18.] The invention relates to a collapsable case for fruit, jam jars, &c. of the type composed of a sheet .of fibre &c. board and having a bottom and side and end wall-forming flaps such as 3, 4, Fig. 1, with foldable sections such that when the sheet is folded a tray is formed having a plane bottom, side walls wholly or in part of double thickness and end walls wholly or in part of triple thickness, the side wallforming flaps being creased longitudinally and transversely as at 5, 7, and the end wall-forming flaps transversely as at 8, lateral extensions such as 6 beyond the transverse creases 7 on the side wall-forming flaps being adapted to form the intermediate plies of the end walls. In a case of this type the flaps 4 are formed with elongated apertures 9 registering with one another and with open slots 10 to afford hand grips. Loose cover pieces may be sandwiched in the corners, loose reinforcing plies may be superposed on the bottom wall and loose partitions forming a cellular structure may be placed inside. The cover may be retained by deformable metallic clips 16, Fig. 6, engageable with the hand-grip apertures.
