[Class 75 (iv).] In a stage light ing or other pro. jector, the illuminant is mountec upon a sliding base or tray which is connected to one or more counter. balance weights sc that, as the illuminant is moved in one direction within the outer casing, the weights move in the opposite direction. In the form shown, an electric arc lamp is mounted upon a base 4 provided on each side with a vertical post 5 carrying a horizontal pin 6 which engages the lower slotted end of a lever 7 pivoted at or slightly below its centre to the side of the casing. The upper slotted end of the lever engages a pin 9 carrying a weight 10 and fitted at one end with a grooved roller 11 running within guide rails 12 carried by the sides of the casing. The guide rails may be dispensed with by rigidly fixing the weights to the levers, and antifriction devices may be employed between the moving parts. In modifications, the lamp base and balance weights are connected to different portions of endless chains or a lazy tongs device.
