349,166. Oil switches. ELIN'AKT.- GES FœR ELEKTRISCHE INDUSTRIE, 1, Volksgartenstrasse, Vienna. March 7, 1930, No. 7497. Convention date, March 9, 1929. [Class 38 (v).] Oil switches, of th kind in which the circuit is first broken at main contacts c, a and broken finally at sparking contacts d, e in parallel with the first and located in explosion chambers b, have the fixed main contacts of circular form surrounding the sparking contacts and preferably concentric with them. In the constructi n shown, the fixed contact consists of a set of annularly arranged spring - mounted contacts secured to the leading-in tubular conductor f which is of large diameter to increase its conductivity to alternating current. The explosion chamber b may be secured to the leading-in conductor and carry auxiliary contacts of the same type as the main contacts. The movable contacts consist of a small central plug d constituting the auxiliary contact and a larger plug c constituting the main contact. In a modification, the fixed main contacts are secured to the leading-in tube and are substantially of the same diameter as the tube; the explosion chamber, of smaller diameter, is secured to a plate mounted in the end of the tube. The fixed contact may be of larger diameter than the leading-in tube.
