349,135. Optical instruments for surgical purposes. ZEISS (LONDON), Ltd., C., 37, Mortimer Street, London. Feb. 28, 1930, No. 6648. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, March 3, 1930.] [Class 81 (ii).] In a mirror for self-examination of the head, a centrally placed lens, which may be cemented to the mirror, or integral therewith, or removably mounted thereon, concentrates light from a source behind the mirror on the part to be examined, which is viewed by reflection in the mirror. In a modification the lens may be dispensed with, a plain hole being employed. The mirror may be plane, concave or double-sided, plane and concave, and is provided with a protruding margin in the shape of the frustrum of a cone. By the use of a quartz lens the apparatus may be used for self-irradiation with ultra-violet rays.
