[Class 100 (ii).] Addressing and like machines; platen machines.- In detachable impression pads for addressing machines, a supporting plate for one or more pads is provided with a corresponding number of pairs of opposed pins, one pin of each pair being spring- pressed towards the other pin so as to enable the pad to be releasably clamped between the pins. As shown, two pads 12, 13, Fig. 1, are attached to a supporting plate 11 connected to a rocking impression arm 7. The plate 11 is provided along one transverse edge with a slot 14, Fig. 2, intersecting two holes 15, 16 in which are arranged springs 19, 20 attached to rectangular plates 21, 22 in the slot 14. Pins 23, 24 fixed to the plates 21, 22 project beyond the plate 11 so as to co-operate with opposing pins 27, 28. The pad 13 is fixed to a metal plate 32 provided with oppositely-disposed bevelled slots 36, 38 adapted to engage bevelled heads on the pins 22, 28; by engaging the slot 36 with the pin 24 and forcing the pin outwardly against the action of the spring 20, the slot 38 may be engaged with the pin 28. The pad 12 is similarly mounted in position. The interengagement of the bevelled surfaces on the slots and pins forces the pad supports up to the plate 11. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states also that the impression pads may be secured by press-buttons or spring-actuated locking members. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
