Abstract
492,756. Embossing-presses. PRINTATOR, Ltd., and HORNEMANN, E. Feb. 10, 1938, No. 6909 /37. [Class 100 (ii)] In a press for embossing letters or other characters on paper, of the kind comprising two plates 3, 4, Fig. 3, hinged or otherwise connected together and provided with means for removably attaching patrix and matrix die parts 6, 7 the latter fit within apertures 5, Fig. 2, in the plates, and are held therein by means of sliding covers 9. The plates 3, 4 are shown as formed by bending a strip 1 of springy material upon itself so that the free ends tend to spring apart. End flanges 8 on the die parts retain them in the apertures 5, and one or more locating projections 14, e.g. two on a matrix part and one on a patrix part, register with notches 15 in one side of the apertures. The covers 9 have a limited movement between a stop 10 and an upturned front edge 12 of the corresponding plate. A downwardly directed lug 11 on the cover engages the stop 10 in one direction and a depression 13 in the plate in the other direction.
