[Class 103 (i).] In rolling mills, strip material &c. passes between brake blocks 1, 2, the upper block being tilted by a counterweight 6 to release the brake when a hand - lever 13 operates an eccentric to raise and so release the pawl 9 from engagement. Fine adjustment power is obtained by moving the lower block by hand-wheel 20 through worm gearing 17. The block can also be swung out sidewise on pivot 22.
