Abstract

347,340. Electric igniters. BROWN, G. J., Winona, Devonshire Avenue, Beeston, Nottinghamshire. Feb. 8, 1930, No. 4277. [Class 75 (iii).] A wick lamp 6 is carried by an extension 5 pivoted between wing portions 3b of a post 3 secured by a metal plate 4 to the cover 2 of a hollow base 1 and is adapted to be swung forwardly by means of a handle 6b to bring a contact 9a into engagement with a wire 11 for closing the primary circuit of an induction coil 13 and form a spark gap between the wick-tube 6a and an electrode 15a in the secondary circuit so that the wick is ignited by the resultant sparks. On further forward movement the contact 9a passes the wire 11 and the sparking circuit is broken. On releasing the handle, the parts are returned to the normal position by a spring 10, the wick being extinguished by the laterallyprojecting upper end 3a of the post. The current may be obtained from a battery 12 or from an external source through a plug connection and a switch.
