Abstract

347,292. Treating animal fibres. DEUTSCHE GOLD-UND SILBERSCHEIDEANSTALT VORM. ROESSLER, 7, Weissfrauenstrasse, Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. Jan. 27, 1930, No. 2830. Convention date, Feb. 6, 1929. [Class 15 (ii).] The natural impurities present in wool, hair, bristles and like animal fibre, such as fat, sweat, skin residues, burrs, and the like are removed and the fibre protected against the action of animal and vegetable parasites during subsequent storing by soaking with hydrogen peroxide at a temperature ranging from 10‹-80‹ C. and then drying. The PH value of the hydrogen peroxide is adjusted to suit the particular fibre treated and the active oxygen present in the soaking liquid is maintained approximately constant by continuous or periodical addition of fresh hydrogen peroxide. Suitable stabilizers for the hydrogen peroxide may be added. The treatment may follow any desired preliminary treatment.
