Description

Process of dying animal hair and cleaning silk without de-buffing. The process is based on the use of sodium phosphate and sodium pyrophosphate. These salts act on wool and hair in such a way that these substances lose the naturally adhering fat and become frizzy and softer. Wool, 3 to 3.5 kg is z. B. treated with a bath of 3 to 3.5 kg of the phosphates in zoo 1 water for 7 to 8 hours at 75 to 80 ° C, then spun, rinsed in cold water and dried. For hair z. B. of hares or rabbits is worked at 70 to 9o °. Cow or goat hair will take 5 to 6 hours. below r to 1.5 atm. Pressure treated. Silk is treated like wool; she does not lose her bast; the diameter of the thread is increased considerably without the thread becoming shorter; it is colored after treatment with direct dyes and has a soft feel and high gloss. The liquor can continue to be used after adding 3½ to 1 kg of phosphate or pyrophosphate. The known use of sodium phosphate for washing animal tissues did not indicate the good first-tanning effect of the abovementioned salts on raw animal hair.
