Abstract
346,299. Wireless receiving systems. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. and SMITH, C. H. W. BROOKES-, Columbia House, Aldwych, London. Jan. 7, 1930, No. 606. [Class 40 (v).] An electric filtering arrangement for alternative wireless reception on different wavelengths, comprises a plurality of mutuallycoupled closed resonant circuits L1, Cl ; L2, C2 each tuned to a different frequency, and means for switching any one of the circuits to a receiving-valve V or other load. As shown, two closed circuits tuned to the respective wavelengths are both coupled to a coil L3 in the aerial, and when either circuit is connected by switch K1 to the receiver, the other absorbs energy of the undesired frequency. A second pair of contacts K2 on the switch may serve to connect a condenser C3, equivalent to the grid-filament capacity, across the non-receiving circuit. The tuned circuits may be coupled either magnetically or by capacity or resistance coupling. The two transmissions may be brought to the same volume level by means of potentiometers or resistances ; or by varying the coupling between the coils L1, L2, L3.
