Abstract
345,931. Valve amplifying and detecting circuits. HAYDEN, H. R., 1001, Ocean Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A. Oct. 21, 1929, No. 31892. Convention date, March 19. [Class 40 (v).] In a multistage thermionic valve receiver in which the valve cathodes are heated by alternating current disturbances are reduced by arranging the couplings so that the disturbances in one valve circuit are cancelled by those in the next. The Figure shows high-frequency amplifying valves 16, 34 stabilized bv resistances 30, 42 and biased by resistance 109. The detector 47 is indirectly heated and biased by resistance 120 and provided with a variable grid condenser and a variable grid leak. The lowfrequency amplifiers are resistance coupled and variable resistance 93 is provided in shunt to the grid leak of the last valve to vary the volume in the loud-speaker 90. High-frequency chokes 58, 59, 60 are provided in the detector and highfrequency amplifying valve circuits and variable resistances 170 are provided in the filament and heater circuits to allow a balancing of the current to reduce hum. Specification 326,859, [Class 40 (v), Wireless signalling &c.], is referred to.
