Abstract

345,643. Louvre ventilators. LIGHTALLOYS, Ltd., Alpax Works, St. Leonard's Road, Willesden, and GRIEVE, W. H., 29, Bramham Gardens, South Kensington, both in London. Dec. 24, 1929, No. 39491. [Class 137.] A louvre ventilator comprises a cast-metal frame the vertical side members of which are furnished with a plurality of angularly disposed recesses for receiving the ends of wooden slats ; the recesses in one of the side members having closed ends and those in the other side having open ends adapted to be closed by means of a removable strip when the slats are in position. If the ventilator is of such a width as to comprise two panels, Fig. 1, both the outer vertical members 11 have recesses with closed ends. The panels are separated by a member 12 secured to the horizontal frame members 10 by rivets 17, Fig. 6, and having at each side a plurality of open-ended recesses 14, Fig. 7, for receiving the slats 18, the recesses being closed by a strip 15 secured to the member 12 by screws 19. Where the frames are produced by sandcasting the vertical frame members are approximately rectangular in section and the slats are supported in recesses in strips formed separately from the frame and secured thereto.
