Abstract

344,289. Reversible regenerative furnaces. ALBERTS, W., 21, Kanzlerstrasse, and ZIMMERMANN, P., 2, Karlsplatz, both in Ruhrort, Duisburg, Germany. May 9, 1930, No. 14297. Convention date, May 21, 1929. [Classes 51 (i) and 51 (ii).] In open-hearth and like reversible regenerative furnaces a variable amount of waste gas is admitted to the regenerative chambers d, e by the provision between the air and gas uptakes a, b of a connecting passage the size of which can be controlled. As shown connections are provided between the air uptake a and the gas uptake b on each side of the furnace, governed by valves c so operated that the connection is closed at the end of the furnace at which the fuel gas and air are entering and open at the outlet end. By varying the opening of the valve c any desired quantity of the exhaust gases may be led off from the air flue into the gas flue so that the gas regenerator will receive the proper quantity of waste gases. Slide valves may be substituted for the disc valves c shown.
