Abstract
392,892. Reversing-valves for cokeoven regenerators. ACKEREN, P. VAN, 62, Irmgardstrasse, Essen, Germany. Aug. 18, 1931, No. 23242. Convention date, Aug. 18, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 51 (i).] In reversing-apparatus for coke-oven regenerators the valves 10, 11 controlling the inlet of weak gas and the outlet of waste gases are connected to the operating means through lost-motion connections comprising pistons 18, 24 slidable in tubes 12, 21 on the valve stems. The valve casing 1 is supplied with weak gas by a pipe 4 provided with a seating 6 for the valve 10, and communicates with the regenerator by a connection 2 and with the waste gas flue by a connection 3 controlled by the valve 11. The shaft 28 of the reversing mechanism is rocked by a lever 38 and has two sectors 29, 30 connected by chains 32, 37 with the rods 17, 25 of the pistons 18, 24 slidable in the tubes 12, 21 connected to the disc valves by members 13, 20. When the ovens are heated by rich gas the chain 32 is disconnected from the weak gas valve 10 and connected with an air inlet flap 40 pivoted at 41 to a lever 42 pivoted to the casing 1 at 44, and a clamp 46, which normally retains the air flap closed, is released. The amount of lost motion is adjusted by altering the position of end caps 16, 23 screwed on the tubes 12, 21. A clean-out cover 8 is provided.
