Abstract

343,981. Drying wet materials. AKTIEBOLAGET FRIBERG'S HÍGVACUUMPUMP, 8, Artillerigatan, Stockholm. Nov. 27, 1929, No. 36372. Convention date, Nov. 29, 1928. [Class 34 (ii).] In a method of drying wet materials in which the materials are dried in a closed chamber by alternately heating directly with steam and subsequently evacuating the chamber, the materials are first heated at atmosphere pressure while the air is being expelled from the drying chamber which is then evacuated and the subsequent heating steps are carried out in the absence of atmospheric air, a pressure below atmospheric pressure being maintained in the chamber until the desired dryness of the goods has been attained. The pressure during the subsequent heating steps is carried out at a pressure below 200 mm. of mercury and is cut off when the temperature of the material is raised to 60‹ C., the evacuation then being continued until the temperature falls to about 35-40‹ C. Superheated steam may be used for heating the material.
