Abstract

878,312. Drying apparatus. BAKER, A. H. S., and FALLA, R. E. Nov. 26, 1957 [Nov. 28, 1956], No. 36398/56. Class 34(2) Used tyre covers are dried prior to remoulding or retreading by subjection to heat whilst in a chamber which is in vacuo or at a very low pressure. The cylindrical chamber 1 has a detachable cover 2 and a gasket 4 forms an airtight seal. The chamber is steam heated through internally gilled tubes 9 whilst suction is effected. via an outlet 8. The drying may be effected by heating at a low pressure for 30 minutes and then applying a further pressure drop for another 30 minutes. The covers may be rotated in the chamber by a suitably mounted roller.
