Abstract
343,607. Road vehicle bodies. WEYMANN, C. T., 18, Rue Troyon, Paris. Nov. 26, 1929, No. 36235. Convention date, Sept. 28. [Class 108 (1).] In closed vehicle bodies of the type in which two rigid cells are secured to the chassis and interconnected by means permitting relative movement between the cells, the latter are flexibly connected together by cant rails. As shown in Fig. 1 two rigid units or cells 10, 11 are spaced apart and secured to the chassis 16, 17 and are connected together resiliently at roof height by cantrails 22, and door 40. The cantrail 22 is secured to the rigid units by sheet metal brackets 53 having a portion secured to the member 19 and a portion 25 to which the cantrail 22 is secured by a bolt. The bracket 53 permits relative movement in all directions by means of the bolt 26 and the flexibility of the bracket the part 27, Fig. 3, of the member 19 being hollowed out to permit of movement of the bracket. The door 40 is hinged to the member 19 by hinges 41 and is provided with a lock which engages with a keeper 43 on the member 44. This keeper is made large enough to permit of the movement of the door in all directions when shut. The member 23 is secured by flexible sheet metal straps as shown. The panelling 21, 46 may be of metal and felt &c. is interposed between the metal and the frame members while to damp resonance felt is secured to the exposed inner face of the metal, preferably by glueing.
