This mode of fixation thrOughLa' single point is not suflicient for preventing. the upper part and thelowerpart ofthe door from rattling, due to its being elastically deiormedina transversal direction, i; e., to its being movedrlaterallywith respect to itsframe under the effect of pot-holes and bumps in theruad surface, which produces a disagreeable noise. The main object of my invention is to obviate thesedrawbacks. According to the present invention,thedoor is provided with two locks, which are disposed, oneat the upper part, and the other at, the lower part ofthe door, andsaid locks are adapted to engage two stumps or lug s,-. preferably-of a conical shape, which are.elastically mounted on the longitudinal element o f'theroof and on thebody bottom side or the fioor of the car-respectively,

606,499, filed Dec. 12, 1929, and my U. S. Patent application Ser. No. 470,217, filed July 23, 1930.

470,217, filed July 23, 1930. In that case they comprise a conical lug g g which is adapted to be engaged and locked by movable bolts m m (Figs. 5 and 6) which is a part of the lock mechanism. Said lug is made integral with the pin of a silentbloc whose external sleeve is provided with suitable fixation plates or straps.
Figs. 5 and 6 show at an enlarged scale how the pieces are assembled. It should be noted that the upper silentbloc h, is mounted with its axis in a vertical direction, while the axis of the lower silentbloc is horizontally and transversally disposed. That arrangement is believed to be the most suitable for avoiding vibrations, and preventing the doors from rattling and thus doing away with the disagreeable noises which result from a defective fixation of the door.
It will be seen in Figs. 5 and 6 that conical lug 9 has its axis at right angles to the axis of silentbloc h while the lower conical lug g is disposed along the same line as the axis of silentbloc h That conical lug g might be integraljwith the axis or mounted in line with it in any suitable manner.
In the case of a motor car having an inclosed body comprising two doors b 17, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, it may be advantageous to so dispose the doors that they open in opposite directions. In this case, the bracing between the scuttle upright or front pillar iand the rounded back upright or rear pillar a is directly ensured by the doors and the intermediate upright is dispensed with.

The transmission between handle or knob k and the'locks is similar-to that generally usedfor the closing of French windows While I have disclosed what I consider "to be a preferred embodiment of my invention, it should be well understood that I do not wish to be limited thereto as there might be changes made in the arrangement, disposition and form of the parts without departing from the principle of my invention as comprehended within the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is:
1. In a motor car comprising a chassis, a bodywork comprising in combination, a body bottom rigidly secured to said chassis, a rigid roof, longitudinal side members in said roof, an upright connecting said roof to said body bottom, a door hinged to said upright, a conical lug, having a horizontal axis at right angles to said 1ongitudinal side member, a'ver'tical silentbloc for fixing said lug to the longitudinal side member 'of the roof, a conical lug parallelto-the first mentioned one, a horizontal silentbloc for fixing the last mentioned lug to thebo'dy bottom, locking means on the upper edge of said door for engaging the lower edge of said door for engaging the second mentioned lug, and means for simultaneously controlling said locking means.
2. In a motor car including a chassis, a bodywork comprising in combination, a body bottom supported by said chassis, a rigid roof, an upright connecting. said roof to said body bottom, a door hinged to said upright, cooperating locking means provided on said roof and the upper edge of said door respectively, so as to engage each other in a horizontal direction, a vertical silentbloc interposed between one of said locking 'means and the part of the body by which it is carried, cooperating locking means carried by said body bottom and the lower edge of said door respectively so'as to engage each other in a hori- Zontal direction, and a horizontal silentbloc interposed between one of the last mentioned locking means and the part of the body by which it is carried.

In a motor car including a chassis, a bodywork which comprises, in combination, a body bottom supported by said chassis, a rigid roof, an upright connecting said roof to said body bottom, a. door :hinged to said upright, cooperating locking means provided on said roof and the upper edge of said door respectively and adapted to act in all directions, a silentbloc interposed between one of said locking means and the part of the body by which it is carried, co-
operating locking means carried by said body bottom and the lower edge of said door respectively and adapted to act in all directions, and a silentbloc interposed between one of the lastmentioned locking means and the part of the body by which it is carried, one of said silentblocs being disposed vertically and the other one horizontally.

In a motor car including a chassis, a bodywork which comprises, in combination, a body bottom supported by said chassis, a rigid roof, an upright connecting said roof to said body bottom, a door hinged to said upright, cooperating locking means provided on said roof and the upper'edge of said door respectively and adapted to act in all-directions, a vertical silentbloc interposed between-one of said locking means and the part of the body by which it is carried, cooperating locking means-carried'by said body botto-mand the'lower edge of said door respec tively and adapted to act in all directions, and a horizontal and transverse silentbloc interposed between one of the last mentioned locking means and the part of the body by which it is carried.
