Abstract

342,869. Vices. MOUNTFORD, A., 47, Bayswater Road, Birchfield, Handsworth, Birmingham. Jan. 14, 1930, No. 1257. [Class 61 (ii).] A saw to be sharpened is gripped between bar-like jaws 1, 2 formed or pro - vided with upstanding heads or arms 3, 4 connected by screws 6 engaging tapped holes 5 for clamping the saw-blade in the jaws ; the rear jaw 2 has lugs 7 for attachment to the bench and a depending rib 9 may be provided on the bar 2 or on the lugs 7 to engage the edge of the bench. The heads or arms may be formed separately from the bar-like jaws, which may be of T-section, or, as shown in Fig. 5 of semicircular section, the jaws 1b, 2b being secured by screws 10a to the heads 3b, 4b and fitted with rubber or fibre packings 2c. In the case of long jaws an intermediate adjustable auxiliary clamping member is employed to hold them rigid.
