342,780. Fluid pressure brakes. LE CLAIR, L. J., BRACKENBURY, A. G., and WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SAXBY SIGNAL CO., Ltd., 82, York Road, King's Cross, London. Nov. 9, 1929, No. 34256. [Class 103 (i).] In a driver's brake valve device for vacuum brakes of the kind comprising a rotary valve actuated by the handle for controlling c o m - munication of the train-pipe with the atmosphere and electric contacts also actuated by the handle for operating for example, the cut-out valve by which the connection of the train-pipe with the exhausting device of the system is controlled, the rotary valve is located below the chamber of the valve device containing the electric contacts. The rotary valve 5 controlling communication of the atmosphere with the trainpipe connection 7 through the apertures 18 and the seat 8 is disposed in a chamber 4 below the chamber 2 containing the electric contacts 3 which engage a drum 11<1> on the spindle 11 rotatable by the handle 6. The spindle 11 is connected to the valve 5 by a dogclutch 14 and the valve and the flange 16 on the spindle are pressed to their seats by a spring 15. A spring-urged locking device for the handle 6 is arranged to be controlled by a lever 19 which can be gripped by the hand used to rotate the valve.
