342,381. Wood-working cutters. STOCK & CO., SPIRALBOHRER-, WERKZEUG-UND MASCHINENFABRIK AKT.- GES., R., Marienfelde, Berlin. Nov. 6, 1929, No. 33845. Convention date, Nov. 7, 1928. [Class 145 (i).] Built-up tools, such as milling-cutters which are detachable from their mandrels, have a non-grooved bore and are coupled at both ends by means of blocks sunk in longitudinal grooves in the mandrel. The mandrel d is provided with key-ways f in one end of which blocks g are secured by tangential pins h. At the other ends the keyways receive gibs g<1> attached to grooves k in a sleeve m by screws n, the blocks g and gibs g<1> engaging recesses i in the end walls of the cutter body a. The sleeve m is provided at each end with slots o for the reception of the gibs g<1>. The cutter a may be adjusted along the mandrel by inserting a sleeve m between the blocks g and the cutter, the blocks then engaging the slots o at one end of the sleeve. Different numbers of sleeves or sleeves of different lengths may be used for further adjustments. In a gang cutter the parts q<1>, p, q<2>, Fig. 6, are coupled together by further blocks r. The invention is stated to allow a larger diameter mandrel to be used than when a key-way is provided in the bore of the cutter.
