Abstract

328,254. Vlieg, G. A. de. Jan. 21, 1929. Reamers. - In adjustable rotary cutters such as reamers the blades 18 are mounted in slots 17 in a body 10 and are secured by wedges 26 inserted between the inner surfaces of the blades and slots, outward movement of the blades being prevented by cylindrical pins 23 engaging recesses 24, 25 of semicircular section in the blades and side walls of the slots, respectively. The inner surfaces of the slots are inclined to the axis of the body to allow adjustment of diameter of the cutter and the inner surfaces of the blades are inclined to those of the slots to allow insertion of the wedges. The slots 17 are inclined to the axis of the cutter and the cutting edges 20 are grooved to lie on a cylindrical surface. The upper ends of the blades abut on an adjusting ring 22 screwing on the cutter body. A driving shaft 11 has a conical mandrel 12 fitting a central bore in the body and a transverse slot in the upper end of the latter is engaged by a key 4 on the shaft,
