T.; 320, Center Street, Ridgeway, Pennsylvania, and Keenan, W. F. ; Pelham Manor, New York, both in U.S.A.) March 14, 1930, No. 8273. Convention date, March 15, 1929. [Class 123 (ii).] In a water tube boiler heated by waste gases, from, say, a Diesel engine 10, and consisting of gilled tubes 19 joined by connecting bends 32 in vertical rows and connected to a header 30 and a steam and water drum 24, the tubes discharge into the bottom of the drum 24 and are arranged close together horizontally but spaced apart vertically to silence the exhaust. The rows of tubes are staggered to increase the restriction of the flow of gas. Economizer tubes 18 are provided above the boiler tubes. The walls 13 .. 16 of the boiler chamber are made of heavy cast iron to withstand pressure and corrosion. The water circulation is restricted by an orifice plate inserted between the downcomer 27 and the tee joint 28.
