Abstract

340,145. Stop valves. EVENNETT, F. C. F., 58, Southbrook Road, Lee, London. Jan. 11, 1930, No. 1120. [Class 135.] Valves actuated indirectly.-A valve device of the kind in which all the parts are enclosed in a conduit and are actuated by the distortion of parl of the conduit has all the parts which control the fluid enclosed along their whole length in a rigid casing and has the valve member arranged tc be actuated directly by the distortable member. In the form shown in the Figure the enclosing casing is made of vulcanite and carries a rubber ring seating 6 for a loose-ball valve 7 loaded by a spring 8. The casing has a side aperture 9 through which part of the elastic tube 10 may be pressed to engage the valve member and move it off its seat. Modifications are described in which the loose-ball valve is replaced by a tilting disc or a perforated sliding plate. The casing may be formed integrally with a discharge nozzle and may be screwed to a rigid conduit, a sleeve of elastic material being fitted over the actuating aperture. The valves may be arranged either to be open or closed in the normal position.
