Cutting slices in succession.-A reciprocating table slicing-machine wherein the ratchet and pawl feed mechanism is controlled by a cam device mounted on the reciprocating table, is characterized by the cam being adjustable by control means mounted on a stationary part of the machine. As shown, the cam 10 controls the ratchet pawl 6 which carries the cam roller 9. The cam is adjusted angularly on the feed screw 3 by a pinion 12 and a bar 14 having rack teeth 13. The cam is held in the adjusted position by an arm 26 having a spring-pressed ball 27 which engages in one of a series of recesses 28 with numbers corresponding to the slice thickness. The bar 14 has a pin and slot connection with one end of a lever 17 pivoted at 18 to the underside of the reciprocating table], the other end having an extension 19 which lies between stops 20 on a rod 21 adjustably slidable on the stationary base of the machine. The adjustment is effected by a lever 23 having a spring-pressed retaining ball engaging with a series of recesses 25 width numbers corresponding to the recesses 28. The stops 20 position the rack bar 14 and the cam 10 in the desired slice thickness setting. A shroud may be used for the ratchet teeth in place of the cam 10. Specification 19872/08 is referred to.
